Food Banks See Shortage of Food

This week the Associated Press ran a story on a national shortage of food and donors at food pantries around the nation.  Michiana is no exception, as this article from WSBT outlines the shortages felt at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and The Bridge @ Studeo 315. The food banks are finding it particularly challenging to provide people in need with food that would make some type of Thanksgiving meal possible for them. As more and more families turn to these places for help this holiday, it becomes difficult for these places to meet all the needs locally.

You can find contact information for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana here and The Bridge @ Studeo 315 here.

Volunteers at Logan Center for Make a Difference DayThe Logan Center in South Bend received a hand from the Notre Dame Almuni Club of St. Joe Valley on October 27th as part of Make a Difference Day. Despite a wet and cold start to the day, over 40 volunteers showed up to help build a playground for the center.

Volunteers spent the morning and some of the afternoon assembling and installing different units of the playground, and by the end of the day they had successfully provided the Logan Center with a great new play area for its clients and guests. The Alumni Club got some help from Girl Scout Troop 70 of Singing Sands.
